Pedigree Analysis by Alan Porter

Alan Porter - "DONERAILE COURT is a multiple graded stakes winning two-year-old and miler by Seattle Slew, from a prolific female family. He is already sire of ten stakes winners and a total of 26 stakes performers from his first three crops, and along with A.P. Indy, is one of only two active Seattle Slew sons to sire a U.S. Experimental Free Handicap Highweight.

Doneraile Court is out of a mare inbred to the influential stallion Tom Fool. In his first crop, he was represented by the brilliant juvenile Ruler’s Court, who was out of a mare by Copelan (also broodmare sire of a stakes placed horse by Doneraile Court), a son of Tri Jet and a great-grandson of Tom Fool. It could also be worth trying to bring in the Buckpasser branch of the Tom Fool male line. Potential sources of Buckpasser include Norcliffe, Buckaroo (sire of Spend a Buck and Montbrook), as well as Buckfinder, Bucksplasher, L’Enjoleur, and Silver Buck.

The Seattle Slew/Mr. Prospector cross has already produced over 100 stakes winners, including Baldomera and Basketball Court by Doneraile Court. Doneraile Court’s stakes winning and graded stakes placed Baldomera is out of a mare by Lil Fappi, a son of Fappiano, which would encourage trying mares by Cahill Road, Cryptoclearance, Pentelicus, Quiet American (broodmare sire of a stakes placed horse by Doneraile Court), Rubiano, Roy (broodmare sire of a stakes placed horse by Doneraile Court), and Unbridled (Unbridled’s son, Grindstone, might be particularly good). Other branches of Mr. Prospector which have done well with Seattle Slew include Afleet, Conquistador Cielo, Distinctive Pro, Fortunate Prospect, Forty Niner, Gone West, Machiavellian, Silver Ghost, Strike Gold, Two Punch and Miswaki, Mining, Seeking the Gold and Woodman (all out of Buckpasser mares, which should be particularly good).

Mr. Prospector is a Raise a Native son, and Seattle Slew line stallions have also done well with mares descending from Raise a Native through Alydar. Doneraile Court has already sired a stakes winner out of a mare by Alydar son, Turkoman. Doneraile Court also has a stakes winner out of a mare by Premiership, a son of the Raise a Native stallion, Exclusive Native. Exclusive Native can also be brought in through Commemorate (brother to Premiership), Affirmed and Our Native.

The cross of Seattle Slew with Northern Dancer line mares is a prolific one with more than 150 stakes winners to date. Branches of Northern Dancer’s male line which have done particularly well with Seattle Slew line stallions include Danzig (grandsire of the dam of a Doneraile Court stakes winner), Deputy Minister, Lyphard, Nijinsky II, Storm Bird and his son, Storm Cat, Topsider, El Gran Senor, Dixieland Band and Nureyev.

Doneraile Court has sired two stakes winners out of mares by Relaunch, a son of In Reality. Relaunch has done well with Seattle Slew in general, and Relaunch sons include Skywalker (Bertrando), Cee’s Tizzy, Honour and Glory and Waquoit. Doneraile Court could also be worth trying with mares descending from In Reality through Valid Appeal and his sons.

Doneraile Court is out of a mare inbred to Tom Fool (a three-quarters relative to the dam of Blushing Groom’s sire, Red God) and he has a stakes winner out of a mare by Blushing Groom’s son, Rahy. It could be worth trying him with mares descending from Blushing Groom through such as Mt. Livermore and his son, Housebuster, Runaway Groom and his son, Cherokee Run (who looks particularly interesting).

Other strains which might be of benefit include Princequillo through Prince John (branches include Stage Door Johnny, and Speak John and Silent Screen) and Round Table; Ribot via His Majesty, Graustark and Hoist the Flag; and horses carrying the mare Cap and Bells (including Drone, El Prado, Notebook, Charismatic, Grindstone, Cherokee Run and Wild Rush)."

“Breeders hold milers in special esteem as stallion prospects, and a triumph in a Grade II race such as the Jerome can only help increase Doneraile Court’s overall value.”
