Historic Kentucky Land
The name "Stonewall Farm" was derived from the noted stone wall built during the Civil War by Irishman John Kearney in 1863. Ours is one of only two dated walls in Kentucky.
“For many years Warren Viley was the owner of ‘Stonewall’ stock farm which he purchased from the Colemans in 1852. He was the first of the name in the county, and from the day he located in Woodford in 1838, to the time of his death in 1902, he was regarded as one of the county’s most dependable and upright citizens. In fact, his promise was as good as a bond and no one ever doubted that he would meet every obligation. He was loyal to his friends, devoted to his family and his home, and in the highest sense of the term a gentleman. Like all of the name, he was a typical southern gentleman with a fondness for all high bred quadrupeds, including his collie, but more especially for the fleet-footed runner and trotter.” -- reprinted from History of Woodford County, by Wm. Major Viley was famous for his barbecues, attended over the years by such notables as Henry Clay, William Henry Harrison, John Breckenridge, and Joe Blackburn. Among the famous equines raised at "Stonewall" was Lexington, America’s Champion Sire an amazing 16 times.

How Many is Too Many?
Ideally, our policy is to breed Stonewall Farm Stallions LLC stallions to approximately 135 mares in a season in order to avoid commercial market oversaturation and protect the health of the horse.
Synthetic Surfaces/Real Solutions
We are anticipating the successful future of all-weather racetracks. Therefore, we are seeking stallion prospects that fit the profile to sire runners on all three surfaces: dirt, turf and all weather.
