Value Plus picked up his thirteenth 2-year-old winner from his debut crop when his debutante Good Fortune rallied to capture her debut on Dec. 4th at Philadelphia Park.
Good Fortune over came a wide trip and some brushing in the stretch to get up for a dead-heat win in the $33,000 race, stopping the clock in 1:00.38 for five furlongs. The bay filly is trained by Scott Lake for owner Willow Rock Stable LLC, which purchased her for $45,000 as a yearling. She hails from the stakes-producing Shadeed mare Forever Young. Runners Ridge Inc. bred Good Fortune in Kentucky.
Fellow freshman sire Leroidesanimaux (Brz) also had a winner on Dec. 4th, as his 2-year-old filly Gifted Apakay won a one-mile maiden race at Lingfield in England over the local all-weather track. It marked the eighth winner from the first crop of the Eclipse Champion.
