Silver Craft, a 2-year-old colt from the first crop of Value Plus, scored an impressive allowance win at Tampa Bay Downs on Dec. 26th to emerge as a horse to watch heading into his 3-year-old season.
Trained by Anthony Reinstedler, Silver Craft made his first start at his winter base in Tampa, Florida, where he showed a big winter could be ahead for the gray colt. He rallied four-wide to prove best in the 6 ½-furlong contest by 1 ½ lengths, stopping the clock in 1:17.55 and earning an 80 Beyer Speed Figure.
The colt had been campaigning in Kentucky prior to shipping south for the season. He broke his maiden impressively in a maiden special weight at Churchill Downs last month, and the promising juvenile now owns two solid wins heading into his 3-year-old season.
Owned and bred by Charles Galli, Silver Craft now has earnings of $52,500, which also include a pair of runner-up finishes at Keeneland and Arlington Park.
Also over the weekend, Value Plus got his 17th winner as Value Your Angel streaked to a front-running 3 ¼-length win in a $28,000 maiden special weight at Charles Town. The chestnut colt has earned $34,240 for owner The Elkstone Group.
