An eye-catching weanling filly from the second crop of Strong Contender caught attention on Day 3 of the annual Keeneland November Sale, selling for $95,000 to buyer Ray Bell after going through the ring as Hip No. 841 on Thursday, Nov. 12th.
Consigned by Legacy Bloodstock as agent, the strapping chestnut filly is an April foal out of the stakes-placed Forest Wildcat mare Heroine’s Magic. Her half-sister by Value Plus sold for $250,000 last year as a yearling and is the mare’s only other registered foal.
The $95,000 price tag represents more than 12 ½ times Strong Contender’s stud fee.
