Getting ready for the May 1 Kentucky Oaks (G1), division leader and likely Oaks favorite Rachel Alexandra - the star filly from the first crop of  Medaglia d’Oro - created a buzz around the Churchill Downs backstretch with her five furlong workout Thursday, April 16, breezing a bullet in :59.40 in a visually effortless move under the famed Twin Spires.

“As usual, she went a little bit faster than I really wanted, but she does it so easy,” trainer Hal Wiggins said. “The main thing we want to do now is just keep her fresh and keep her ready.”

Jockey Calvin Borel, aboard for the move, added, “I’ve never asked her - it’s just crazy. I’ve been on her all the time and I’ve never asked her. She’s just unbelievable, and she just gets better and better and better and better. I don’t know how good she can be.”

The filly is scheduled for an easy workout Monday, Apr. 27 as her final prep for the Oaks.
