Devil by Design became leading freshman sire Medaglia d’Oro’s fifteenth allowance-level maiden winner from his debut crop, as the 2-year-old filly was impressive in defeating a field of 12 in her first career start in a $50,000 maiden special weight race at Keeneland Race Course on Oct. 25.

Trained by Jose Fernandez, Devil by Design crossed the wire a length-and-a-quarter in front while stopping the timer in 1:10.59 for six furlongs over the local Polytrack. Out of the Devil His Due mare Beauty’s Due, Devil by Design earned $31,225 for her owner and breeder John D. Gunther.
