Marfach, a 2-year-old colt from the first crop of champion Leroidesanimaux (Brz), missed by a short head following a dramatic stretch finish in the Goffs Million Mile S. worth 1,600,000 Euros on Sept. 27th at the Curragh in Ireland.
The dark bay rallied strongly and was getting to the winner Shakespearean in the one-mile event before falling just short, as the two hit the wire together in 1:38.92 over a good local turf course.
Trained by Jim Bolger, Marfach earned 300,000 Euros.
Value Plus, a fellow freshman sire, enjoyed a solid weekend with the emergence of his stakes-performing filly All Due Respect, who was second in the $180,000 NATC Futurity on Sept. 26th at Monmouth.
Stonewall Stallions’ Marquetry was represented with a stakes winner on Sept. 26th when Marq French won the $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Classic S. at Remington Park. The 7-year-old won his eighth stakes event to move his earnings to $466,626.
