Lawyer Ron, the 2007 Eclipse Champion Older Male, had to be euthanized late Friday, July 10 due to complications from a recent colic surgery.

A 6-year-old son of Langfuhr, Lawyer Ron was standing his second season at stud at Stonewall Farm Stallions in Versailles, KY, and his first crop of foals arrived this year. As a racehorse, Lawyer Ron was a record-setting, multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire and champion. His biggest wins came in back-to-back scores at Saratoga in 2007 in the Woodward S. (G1) and Whitney H. (G1), in which he broke the 1 1/8-mile track record.

“Not only was he a superior racehorse horse but his physical presence and contagious personality captivated everyone that saw him,” said Clark Shepherd, manager of Stonewall Farm Stallions. “His first foals are tremendous. When breeders call in to report their Lawyer Ron foals being born, they all have a story to tell. This is obviously a huge loss for us, as well as for the racing and breeding community.”

Lawyer Ron was out of the Lord Avie mare Donation. He stood for a fee of $25,000.
